Unlike a traditional fox hunt (there are no foxes in New Zealand and no hare in the Waitemata District), the Waitemata Hunt lays an artificial drag scent during the hunt. We get to enjoy the thrill of a chase with hounds in full cry, without live quarry. And the benefits of a drag hunt doesn't stop there - it also means that we have guaranteed runs over well prepared country. With an annual calendar of events including hunting, trail rides, treks, and competitions - there is a serious amount of fun you and your horse can have as a member of the Waitemata Hunt. |
